The following is a list of the tools used

 

 

The EMF and K2 meters

 

 EMF stands for electromagnetic field. Fluctuation in EMF can suggest the presence of paranormal activity.

 

The K2 EMF meter is a standard EMF detector, much like other meters.  Most EMF detectors use a needle or LCD read out that will move up and down when indicating electromagnetic energy. If there is an increase in the energy, the needle or numbers will move indicating the higher levels. The K2 meter uses lights to indicate changes instead of a needle or the LCD, flashing and then finally staying light at the level found with the meter

Night vision cameras

 

Some camcorders and security cameras have 0 lux or night vision, this gives the investigators the ability to record their investigation and also see if anything moves in the dark.

Digital audio recorders

 

Digital audio recorders are use to record what's known to ghost hunters as EVP or electronic voice phenomenon.  Sometimes the human ear can't pick up the voices and they are only audible once recorded on the audio recorders and reviewed. On the TV show Ghost Hunters you will often see them using a computer programme to play back the audio at the revel, this is audio editing software called Cool Edit (Now called Adobe audition) which is used in broadcast.  The Purpose of this software is to amplify the area and isolate it so it can be easily accessed

FLIR Thermal Cam and Thermometer

 

Forward looking infrared (FLIR) is an imaging technology that senses infrared radiation.

 

The thermometers sense the temperature in front of the unit and ambient temperature. It is believed that when a spirit is about to manifest itself it draws on all the surrounding energy and this is why you get cold spots and sometimes fully charged or new batteries drain suddenly
